How far is Trivandrum from Coimbatore?
Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) is about 390 km from Coimbatore by road, roughly 8.5 hours of driving with stops. That is a full day each way, so none of our plans make it a day trip. Most guests stay at Kovalam, about 13 km from the city, and drive in for the sights. The 6 day Madurai Rameswaram Kanyakumari Trivandrum plan is the one that keeps a night in the city itself.
Every trip starts and ends in Coimbatore, with pickup from your home, hotel, the airport, railway station or bus stand. The same AC vehicle and driver stay with you until you are back home.
Which Trivandrum tour package from Coimbatore should you pick?
We have six packages that spend time in Trivandrum. The shortest is the Kovalam Poovar 4 day package, which gives Day 2 to the city: Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in the morning and the Napier Museum after. If you want two beach towns, the Varkala Kovalam 4 day plan stops at the temple on the drive from Varkala to Kovalam.
| Package | Length | From (per person) |

The 6 day southern loop crosses from Kanyakumari into Kerala for the temple and an evening at Kovalam Beach, with the night in Trivandrum. The Kerala 7 days tour package and the 12 day plan cover the hills and backwaters first and reach Trivandrum near the end. On the Alleppey Kovalam 5 day plan, the temple is an afternoon visit from Kovalam.
What does a Trivandrum package cost?
Trivandrum packages from Coimbatore start at ₹13,999 per person, based on 2 travelling together. One price covers the AC vehicle, driver, fuel, toll, parking, the Kerala permit and entry tax, and a 3-star or similar hotel named in your quote. Meals, entry tickets and personal expenses are extra. The per person rate drops when more people travel together, and larger groups can go in a Tempo Traveller.
What to see in Trivandrum
The Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple is the stop nearly every guest asks for. The district administration's page says the main deity is Vishnu in the Anantha Shayanam posture, resting on the serpent Adisheshan, and that the city's Malayalam name means "the City of Lord Ananta". The temple is about 1 km from the central railway station.
- Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, the family deity of the Travancore royal family.
- The Napier Museum, an art and natural history museum inside the city's museum and zoo complex. The district page says the complex covers 55 acres in the middle of the city and the museum first opened to the public in 1857.
- Veli Tourist Village, where Veli Lake meets the sea, with pedal boats and a children's park, about 12 km from the city.
- Shanghumugham Beach, a wide beach close to the airport, known for its sunset views.
Museum opening days and boat timings change, so your driver may switch the order on the day. Our packages name the temple and, on some plans, the Napier Museum. The other stops are added on request when there is time.
Is there a dress code at Padmanabhaswamy Temple?
Yes, and it is strict. Kerala Tourism says men wear a mundu or dhoti and no shirt, and women wear a sari, mundum neriyathum, skirt and blouse, or a half sari. Dhotis can be rented at the entrance, and the temple now allows a dhoti worn over pants or a churidar. The temple sets its own rules, so check its notices before your visit. We remind you the evening before.
When is the best time to visit Trivandrum?
October to March suits most trips. Trivandrum is the first city on the path of the southwest monsoon and gets its first showers in early June, and the northeast monsoon brings more rain by October. Temperatures stay fairly even through the year, with daytime highs mostly between 30 and 34 °C, so the rain decides the season more than the heat does.
What can you combine with Trivandrum?
Trivandrum sits in the middle of the southern Kerala coast, so it joins easily with the beach towns on either side. Kovalam is 13 km away and is where most of our guests sleep. Poovar, about 30 km south, has its own page for the river mouth boat rides. Varkala is about 45 km north, and Kanyakumari is about 90 km south across the Tamil Nadu border. For the backwaters on the way home, see Alleppey, or browse every Kerala tour package. Call or WhatsApp +91 93426 62373 with your dates and group size.
