Day 1: Coimbatore, Mettupalayam and up to Ooty
Pickup in Coimbatore, then up the ghat road past Coonoor, around 3 hours with stops. After check-in you visit Ooty Lake, where you can take a boat out, and the Government Botanical Garden. The Nilgiris district lists the garden as 55 acres and the lake at 65 acres. Night in Ooty.

Day 2: Coonoor day trip (the heart of this Ooty trip itinerary)
Coonoor is about 19 km from Ooty. You see Sim's Park, then the valley views from Lamb's Rock and Dolphin's Nose, about 12 km from Coonoor bus stand. On the way we stop at a tea estate and an Ooty tea factory to watch leaf being processed. Tea factory Ooty timings vary, so the driver plans around them. Night in Ooty.

Day 3: Doddabetta, Pykara and the drive back
After check-out you drive up Doddabetta peak in Ooty. At 2,623 m it is the highest point in Tamil Nadu and about 10 km from Ooty bus stand, according to the district. Then the Rose Garden, the pine forest Ooty is known for, and Pykara Lake and falls. The evening drive takes you back to your Coimbatore drop point.

How far is Ooty and how to reach
The Nilgiris district puts Ooty 89 km from Coimbatore, with Coimbatore airport 105 km away as the nearest airport to Ooty. We pick up at the airport. The drive takes around 3 hours, longer on season weekends.
Best time to go
March to June is the main season, and the Botanical Garden flower show is in May, so book early. July and August bring heavy rain. September to November is quieter and green. December to February is cold, with frost on some mornings. Ooty altitude is about 2,240 m, so there is no special Ooty dressing style: bring layers and a jacket, even in summer.

How many days required for Ooty trip planning?
Three days for a first visit. One day each for Ooty town and Coonoor, plus a half day for Doddabetta and Pykara before the drive home.
Can we change the plan or add Avalanche Lake?
Yes. Tell us when you ask for a quote. People often swap the Rose Garden for Wax World Ooty, or Pykara for Avalanche Lake Ooty, about 28 km from town per the Nilgiris district. For adventure activities in Ooty, like a zipline in Ooty, we check what runs on your dates; you pay on the spot.
Is the toy train included?
No. The toy train runs between Mettupalayam and Ooty and sells out in season. Ooty train timings and tickets go through Indian Railways. If you get seats, our driver meets you at the station with your luggage.
Which tea and chocolate factory Ooty stop is on the plan?
A working tea factory with a shop, on Day 2. Ask if you want a tea and chocolate factory Ooty visit; tea and homemade chocolate are the usual things to buy in Ooty.
Do you offer just an Ooty cab service without the hotel?
Yes. If you have your own stay, book just the car and driver through car rental in Coimbatore, or a Tempo Traveller for larger groups.
What are the payment and cancellation terms?
A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.
