Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Coimbatore to Madurai, Meenakshi Temple and the palace

Morning pickup and the drive to Madurai. Evening darshan at Meenakshi Amman Temple, then the sound and light show at Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal, about 1.5 km away. The Madurai district page on the palace lists the show at 6:45 PM in English and 8:15 PM in Tamil.

  2. Day 2: Madurai nearby temples and museum

Alagar Kovil, about 21 km north-east of the city, with Pazhamudircholai, one of Murugan's six abodes, on the same hill. Then the Gandhi Memorial Museum in Rani Mangammal's old palace and Mariamman Teppakulam, the 16-acre temple tank. Second night in Madurai.

  3. Day 3: Madurai to Rameswaram

Drive to Rameswaram across Pamban Bridge. A dip at Agnitheertham, the sea in front of the temple, then darshan at Ramanathaswamy Temple. Night in Rameswaram.

  4. Day 4: Dhanushkodi and return

Early to Dhanushkodi, then the long drive back to Coimbatore, about 390 km and around 7 to 8.5 hours with stops. It is a long day; an extra night on the way can be added on request.

How far / how to reach

All by road from Coimbatore. Madurai airport is about 175 km from Rameswaram, so if part of your group flies in, tell us and your written quote states how we can collect them in Madurai.

Places you will see

The Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple covers about 65,000 square metres and is usually open 5 AM to 12:30 PM and 4 PM to 9:30 PM, per the district. The Hall of Thousand Pillars and the musical pillars are inside.

The main temple is Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines. The Ramanathapuram district page describes its third corridor, 197 m east to west, and the 22 theerthams where pilgrims bathe. Pamban Bridge is the 2.2 km road link to the island.

Best time to go

October to March is cooler for temple walking on stone floors. Festival days such as Maha Shivaratri bring long queues in Rameswaram, and the Teppam float festival at Teppakulam falls in January or February.

Vehicle for your group size

The vehicle is part of the package price. We match it to your group, and you can ask for a different one.

Price and how to book

₹10,500 to ₹27,000 per person. Your figure depends on dates, the hotel and group size; the vehicle cost is shared, so a larger group pays less each. Send your dates, pickup point and head count. Our fleet: sedans (Dzire, Etios, Amaze), Ertiga, Innova, Innova Crysta, Innova Hycross, Xylo, Tempo Traveller 12/14/17/18 seater, Force Urbania 10/12/14/16 seater, a 21 seater coach van, a 24 seater mini bus, and 30 and 50 seater buses. For a temple group we quote a Tempo Traveller, coach van or bus.

  1. Send your dates, number of people and pickup point on WhatsApp, or call +91 93426 62373.
  2. We reply with the price per person and the hotel and vehicle for your group.
  3. Confirm the booking. We share the driver's name and number before the trip.

Dhanushkodi: what to expect

Dhanushkodi, about 18 km from Rameswaram, is the island's southern tip. A cyclone washed the town away in 1964; the church ruins and Kothandaramasamy Temple remain. Dhanushkodi beach is open sand with strong currents, so we advise against swimming. Local authorities set the Dhanushkodi beach timings, and access can close in rough weather.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from your other Madurai and Rameswaram package?

The stops match our Madurai and Rameswaram 4 days package, which shows a per-person price. This version is planned around darshan times and group travel. Ask for both quotes and pick the one that fits.

Can we add more temples in and around Madurai?

Yes. Thiruparankundram is close to the city and fits on Day 2 if you start early. Tell us when you ask for the quote. The quote states any extra time or cost.

Is there a dress code?

Temples expect traditional dress: dhoti or trousers for men and a saree, salwar or long skirt for women. Bring a change of clothes for the Agnitheertham dip. Dress rules can change, so we confirm them before your visit.

What if we want Kanyakumari too?

Take the Rameswaram and Kanyakumari 4 days tour or our 6-day Madurai, Rameswaram, Kanyakumari and Trivandrum trip. For hill stations as well, try the 7-day Madurai to Ooty circuit. To add Thanjavur and Trichy, see the 5-day Madurai to Trichy temple trip.

How do payment and cancellation work?

A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.
