Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Isha, then Madurai

    Early pickup and a morning at Isha Yoga Center and the Adiyogi statue on the west side of Coimbatore. Then the long drive to Madurai, around 5 to 6 hours with stops. In the evening you visit Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple. Night in Madurai.

  2. Day 2: Nayakkar Palace, Pamban Bridge, Rameswaram

    Morning at Thirumalai Nayak Palace, built in 1636 and about 1.5 km from the Meenakshi temple. Then east to Rameswaram over Pamban Bridge, Pamban palam in Tamil, which the district gives as 2.2 km long. Evening darshan at Ramanathaswamy Temple. Night in Rameswaram.

  3. Day 3: Temple wells and Dhanushkodi

    Early morning at the temple for the bath at the temple wells, when queues are shorter. After breakfast you drive to Dhanushkodi, 18 km away. The district notes the town was washed away by a cyclone in 1964, and only ruins and the Kothandaramaswamy temple remain. Back to Rameswaram for the night.

  4. Day 4: Return to Coimbatore

    After breakfast you leave Rameswaram and drive back to Coimbatore, about 390 km and around 7 to 8 hours with stops. We drop you at your pickup point in Coimbatore by night.

How far is Rameswaram and how to reach

The district gives Madurai airport as about 175 km from Rameswaram, and the trip ends back in Coimbatore, so you can also fly out of Coimbatore. If you only need a car and driver without hotels, book the car through our car rental in Coimbatore team. By road, Coimbatore to Madurai is about 210 km and Madurai to Rameswaram about 175 km.

Best time to go

October to March is cooler and the easiest time for elders. April to June is hot on the coast, so we plan outdoor stops early. For the temple, go early in the morning; festival days such as Maha Shivaratri bring very large crowds. Darshan timings change by day and season, so we check them for your date.

₹17,500 to ₹21,000 per person. Your figure depends on dates, hotels and group size; the vehicle cost is shared, so a family of 6 pays less each than a couple. We send a sedan for up to 4, an Ertiga or Innova for 6 or 7, and a Tempo Traveller, Urbania or bus for larger temple groups, named in your quote.

Dhanushkodi timings

Dhanushkodi is a day-only visit, and the police check post decides when vehicles must leave, which changes with season and sea conditions. We go in the morning so you are never rushed at the gate. On days with rough sea or strong wind, the road can close without notice.

Is this trip suitable for elders?

Yes, with two things to know. The temple corridors and wells involve a lot of standing and walking on wet floors, and Day 1 is a long drive. Tell us the ages in your group and we can split Day 1 or add rest stops.

Can we add more temples in Madurai?

Yes. Koodal Alagar Perumal Temple is in the city and Azhagar Kovil is about 21 km north east of Madurai, per the district. We check the Koodal Alagar Perumal Temple timings for your date and fit it into the Day 2 morning.

What if the Dhanushkodi road is closed?

We swap the time for other Rameswaram stops and try again the next morning if you are staying.

What are the payment and cancellation terms?

A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.

Who should pick a different package?
