Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Drive up to Yercaud, lake and viewpoints

    We leave Coimbatore in the morning and drive through Salem, then up the ghat road to Yercaud. After check-in you visit Yercaud Lake, Pagoda Point and Lady's Seat. This plan puts Lady's Seat last, in the late afternoon, when the plains below are usually clearest. Suggested stay: Great Trails Yercaud or a similar 3-star hotel, confirmed in your quote.

  2. Day 2: Killiyur Falls, Botanical Garden, drive to Kolli Hills

    Morning at Killiyur Falls and the Botanical Garden, then you come down to the plains and drive to Kolli Hills. Suggested stay: Natures Valley or a similar 3-star hotel, confirmed in your quote.

  3. Day 3: Agaya Gangai, Arapaleeswarar Temple, 70 hairpin bends, return

    Visit Arapaleeswarar Temple and walk down to Agaya Gangai Waterfalls. After lunch we drive down the 70 hairpin bends and head back to Coimbatore for an evening drop at your pickup point.

How far and how to reach

The Coimbatore to Yercaud distance by road is about 200 km via Salem, around 3.5 to 4.5 hours with a breakfast stop. Yercaud to Kolli Hills means descending to the plains and climbing again through Rasipuram or Namakkal. The drive home from Kolli Hills on Day 3 is about 215 km, around 4 to 5 hours with stops.

A Coimbatore to Yercaud bus means changing at Salem and then finding local transport for each viewpoint, which is hard to do with family and luggage.

Places you will see

Pagoda Point is on the eastern edge of the hills, about 5 km from town, and looks out over Attur and Ayothiapattinam, according to the Salem district list of Yercaud tourist places. The same page puts Killiyur Falls about 3 km from Yercaud Lake and says it is best after the monsoon, so do not expect much water in a dry summer. The Botanical Garden is maintained by the Botanical Survey of India.

Kolli Hills sit in the Eastern Ghats at about 1,200 m, around 45 km from Namakkal town, per the Namakkal district page on Kolli Hills. It lists Arapaleeswarar Temple and Agaya Gangai waterfalls among the main sights. The falls sit well below the temple and you reach them by a long flight of steps, so the climb back up takes real effort. The path can close after rain, so we check it for your travel date.

Best time to go

October to March is cool and comfortable for both hills. Killiyur and Agaya Gangai carry the most water after the monsoon. If you want to see the Yercaud flower show, plan for May: the summer festival and flower show is held at Anna Park by the lake, as listed on the Incredible India Yercaud Flower Festival page. Hotels fill early that week. Festival dates change each year, so check them before you fix your travel date.

How many days do we need in Yercaud?

One night covers the lake, Pagoda Point, Lady's Seat and Killiyur Falls without rushing. Two nights let you add the Shevaroy temple and silk farm. This trip gives Yercaud one night because the second night goes to Kolli Hills. If Yercaud is all you want, our 2-day Yercaud plan is the simpler option.

Is this a budget trip or a premium one?

It is a mid-range trip: 3-star or similar hotels and a private AC vehicle. Simpler rooms bring the price down; a bigger group shares the vehicle cost.

What is different from other Kolli Hills tour packages?

Most Yercaud tour packages stay on one hill, and most Kolli Hills trips start from Salem or Namakkal and cover Kolli alone. This one starts from your door in Coimbatore and pairs Kolli with Yercaud, so you see two hill stations for one long drive each way.

Can we change the plan?

Yes. You can swap the order, skip a stop or add one, such as the Kolli Hills boat house. Tell us before we quote.

What are your payment and cancellation terms?

A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.

Who is this trip not for?

Travellers who get car sick easily or cannot manage steep steps. The 70 hairpin bends and the Agaya Gangai climb are part of the trip. If that worries you, a Yercaud-only stay is easier.
