It suits families and friends who have done the usual hill trips and want a fort and a beach as well. We are a Coimbatore tour operator with an office in Ganapathy, and you travel in our own vehicle with our own driver.

Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Coimbatore to Wayanad, Banasura Sagar Dam

    We drive from Coimbatore to Wayanad and, after check-in, visit Banasura Sagar Dam in the west of the district. The drive is about 215 km, around 4.5 to 5.5 hours with stops, longer on season weekends.

  2. Day 2: Edakkal Caves, Soochipara Falls

    A gentler day. Morning at Edakkal Caves, which involves a steep climb to the upper cave, and the afternoon at Soochipara Falls. Entry to both depends on the authority on the day; if one is closed, we swap in another stop nearby.

  3. Day 3: Wayanad to Bekal, Bekal Fort sunset, Bekal Beach Park

    You drive down from the hills to the coast at Bekal in Kasaragod district, about 185 km and around 4 to 5 hours with stops. You reach in time to walk the fort walls at sunset, then spend the evening at Bekal Beach Park.

  4. Day 4: Ananthapura Lake Temple, the Kannur drive, back to Coimbatore

    You visit Ananthapura Lake Temple, north of Bekal, then drive south along the coast through Kannur and on to Coimbatore. This is a very long day in the vehicle, around 345 km and 7 to 8 hours with stops plus the temple visit, so expect to reach Coimbatore in the evening or later.

How far / how to reach

Day 1 takes you from Coimbatore to Wayanad by road. Day 3 is a moderate drive down the ghat to the coast. Day 4 is the longest, from the far north of Kerala back to Coimbatore. If that is too much for your group, ask us to add a night in Kannur or Kozhikode on the way.

Places you will see

Bekal Fort. Kerala Tourism's Bekal Fort page calls it one of the largest and best preserved forts in Kerala, built in the mid-17th century and shaped like a keyhole above the sea, about 16 km south of Kasaragod.

Ananthapura Lake Temple. A 9th-century temple about 30 km from Bekal and the only lake temple in Kerala, per the Ananthapura page on Kerala Tourism. It is believed to be the original seat of the deity of Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram.

Edakkal Caves and Banasura. The Kerala Tourism guide to Wayanad's main sights lists the cave engravings and Banasura Sagar Dam among the district's best-known places.

Best time to go

October to March is the best time. The hills are dry and the sea at Bekal is calm. From June to September Wayanad gets heavy rain and the coast is rough, though Soochipara is at its fullest.

Frequently asked questions

Can we stop at a Kannur temple on Day 4? What are its visiting hours?

The temple is the Raja Rajeswara Temple at Taliparamba in Kannur district, listed on Kerala Tourism's Kannur temples page. Darshan timings and entry rules, including who may enter and at what time, are set by the temple and can change, so we check them for your date. Traditional dress is expected, so ask us before you pack.

Is the Bekal hotel really 3-star?

At Bekal we book a 3-star or similar hotel, and your quote names it.

Day 4 looks very long. Can we split it?

Yes. You can add a night in Kannur or Kozhikode on the way home. Tell us when you ask for a quote and we will price both versions.

Can we change the plan?

Yes. You can add Kuruva Island or Pookode Lake on Day 2, or skip the Ananthapura detour to reach home earlier. Tell us what you want and we will say what fits.

How do payment and cancellation work?

A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.

Who should pick a different package?
