Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Coimbatore to Courtallam, Main Falls, Five Falls, Kasi Viswanathar temple
We leave Coimbatore early. After check-in you bathe at Main Falls and Five Falls, then go to the Kasi Viswanathar temple in Tenkasi for evening darshan. Suggested stay: Saaral Resort Courtallam or a similar 3-star hotel, confirmed in your quote.
Day 2: Old Courtallam Falls, Eco Park, and the forest falls if open
Morning at Old Courtallam Falls, then the Eco Park next to Five Falls. Our plan also lists Honey Falls and Shenbagadevi Falls, but both are closed to the public at present (see below). If the forest department reopens them, we add them.
Day 3: Thirumalai Kovil, Papanasam, return to Coimbatore
Early visit to Thirumalai Kovil on its hill, then the drive to Papanasam. Banatheertham is on the plan if the forest department allows access that day. In the afternoon we start the long drive back to Coimbatore and reach late at night.
How far and how to reach
Courtallam is in Tenkasi district, about 15 km by road from Tenkasi railway station per the Tenkasi district Courtallam page. From Coimbatore it is a full day's drive each way, roughly 350 to 400 km depending on the route. Day 3 is long: the temple, Papanasam and then the return drive. If you prefer, we can split it with a third night on the way.
Places you will see
The Tenkasi district page on the falls describes Main Falls as about 50 m wide, near the Courtallanathar temple, with good parking. Five Falls is about 4 km from Main Falls, next to the Courtallam Eco Park. Old Falls is about 8 km away, managed by the forest department, with two children's pools. The same page says Shenbagadevi Falls is "restricted to public" and that public access to Honey Falls was stopped for safety.
The Kasi Viswanathar temple is the Tenkasi temple most visitors come for; the town takes its name from it. The Tenkasi district page on Thirumalai Kovil describes a Murugan shrine on a hillock at Panpozhi, ringed by the Western Ghats, with a road to the top.
Papanasam has a dam and the Agasthiyar Falls. Banatheertham lies further inside the forest beyond check posts, and access is often closed. Entry depends on the forest department on the day; if it is closed, we swap in another stop nearby.
Best time to go
The saaral season, roughly June to September, is when the falls run fullest and the air is cool and drizzly. Courtallam is crowded on weekends then. Outside the monsoon, some falls slow to a trickle. Heavy floods also close the falls for safety at short notice.
Vehicle for your group size
The vehicle is part of the package price. We match it to your group, and you can ask for a different one.

Frequently asked questions
When is Thirumalai Kovil open?
The temple opens in the morning and closes for a midday break, and hours change on festival days. We plan the visit for early morning on Day 3 and check the current hours for your date.
What if the falls are closed for floods?
Local authorities close the falls when the flow is dangerous. We then shift you to a fall that is open, the Eco Park or a temple, and return when it reopens. We cannot control closures.
Is bathing at the falls safe for children?
Old Courtallam has separate children's pools. Main Falls has heavy flow in season, so keep small children back. Follow the staff's instructions.
Can we change the plan?
Yes. Many families skip Papanasam to get home earlier, or add a third night. Tell us before we send the quote.
What are your payment and cancellation terms?
A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.
Who is this not for?
Anyone visiting in the dry months for the waterfalls; the flow may be thin. Also travellers who dislike long drives, as Courtallam is far from Coimbatore. For a nearer waterfall, ask about Kovai Kutralam or Monkey Falls instead. For cooler hills, see the Yercaud and Kolli Hills 3-day trip. The Nilgiris are covered by our 2-day Ooty trip and the 3-day Ooty sightseeing plan. For a day closer to home, try Coimbatore local sightseeing.
