Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Coimbatore to Coorg, Raja's Seat sunset

    We leave Coimbatore early, drive via Mysore and reach Madikeri by late afternoon. After check-in, head to Raja's Seat to watch the sun go down over the hills.

  2. Day 2: Abbey Falls, coffee-estate experience and free time

    After a late breakfast, visit Abbey Falls, then spend a couple of hours on a coffee estate to see how the beans are grown and processed. Your written quote names the estate and states what is included. The afternoon and evening are free for the two of you.

  3. Day 3: Dubare, Nisargadhama and return to Coimbatore

    Check out and drive toward Kushalnagar. Dubare Elephant Camp is the morning stop. Session timings and entry depend on the forest department on the day; if it is closed, we swap in another stop nearby. Nisargadhama, a forest island on the Cauvery, comes next, and then we drive back to Coimbatore.

How far is Coorg from Coimbatore?

The usual route is via Mysore, around 6 to 7 hours to Madikeri with stops. Part of the Coimbatore to Mysore road crosses the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve, which has night traffic limits, so we leave early and cross in daylight.

Places you will see

Raja's Seat is a garden viewpoint close to the Madikeri bus stand. The Kodagu district site says the Kodava kings and their queens spent their evenings here, and it is best known for sunsets over the valleys.

Abbey Falls is about 9 km from Madikeri, a mountain stream falling over rock with coffee and cardamom plantations around it. It was once called Jessy Falls. The flow is strongest in and just after the monsoon.

Dubare Elephant Camp, about 38 km from Madikeri, once trained elephants for the Mysore Dasara. It is now run by Jungle Lodges and Resorts, and visitors can watch or join in feeding and bathing. Nisargadhama, about 28 km from Madikeri according to the Kodagu district page, is a forest island in the Cauvery with bamboo groves and river-side cottages. Coorg itself is about 120 km from Mysuru, according to Karnataka Tourism's Coorg guide.

Best time to go

Karnataka Tourism recommends October to March, when the weather is cool and dry. From June to September, Coorg is very green and Abbey Falls is at its fullest, but heavy rain limits outdoor time and can stop activities at Dubare. December and New Year are the busiest weeks, so book your room early.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from your other Coorg trips for couples?

This one keeps Day 2 half free and has no early starts except Day 1. Our other Coorg trips, such as the 2-day Coorg trip, fit in more sightseeing, such as Talacauvery and the Golden Temple at Bylakuppe. If you want more places, ask us to add them.

Can you arrange a homestay on a coffee estate?

Yes, if one is available for your dates. Many couples prefer an estate homestay to a hotel in town. The quote will name the property.

Can we change the plan?

Yes. You can skip Dubare, add a third night or move Abbey Falls to Day 3. Tell us before we confirm the quote.

Will we share the car with anyone?

No. The car and driver are only for the two of you for all three days. The quote names the vehicle.

How do payment and cancellation work?

A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.

Who should pick a different package?
