Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Coimbatore to Kodaikanal, Silver Cascade, Coaker's Walk, Bryant Park and the lake
Leave Coimbatore early. Kodaikanal is about 160 km away, around 4 to 5 hours with stops, longer on season weekends. Silver Cascade is the waterfall beside the ghat road just before town. After check-in, walk Coaker's Walk, a paved path on the edge of the town with valley views, then Bryant Park. End at the lake in the evening.
Day 2: Pillar Rocks, Guna Caves, Pine Forest, Green Valley View and return
Head out on the 12-Mile Road after breakfast. The first three share one forest department ticket, as the Kodaikanal Wildlife Sanctuary's 12-Mile Road page explains, and you can buy it online for your date. Stop at Green Valley View, then drive back to Coimbatore in the afternoon.
How far / how to reach
Kodaikanal is about 160 km from Coimbatore. A Coimbatore to Kodaikanal bus usually means a change at Palani or Dindigul and a fixed timetable, so check current timings on the TNSTC site before you book. With our car you leave when you want and stop at Silver Cascade on the way up.
Places you will see
Coaker's Walk. A walkway of roughly 1 km along the hillside. On clear days you look down toward the plains. For photos at Coaker's Walk, go early, before the afternoon mist rolls in.
Kodai Lake. The star-shaped lake in the middle of town. Kodaikanal lake boating is run from jetties on the shore, and boat types and prices change by season. You can also cycle or walk the road around it.
Pillar Rocks. Three granite pillars about 122 m high, according to the sanctuary page, seen from a fenced viewpoint with a garden.
Guna Caves. The Guna Cave in Kodaikanal, also called the Guna Caves, is the old Devil's Kitchen. The sanctuary page says the deep passages are now closed to the public after people died there, and you see parts of the cave system from viewing areas reached by a forest walk. The Tamil Nadu Forest Department's ecotourism page lists them on the same 12-Mile Road circuit. We do not take guests past the barriers. The rules are strict because of deaths at the site in the past.
Pine forest and Green Valley View. The pine plantations date from 1906, planted by a British forest officer, H. D. Bryant. The pine forest timings follow the 12-Mile Road ticket hours, which change by season, so we check them for your date. Kodaikanal Green Valley View looks down a steep drop toward the plains.
Best time to go
The Dindigul district page on Kodaikanal puts the height of Kodaikanal at 7,200 feet in the upper Palani Hills, so it stays cool all year. April to June is the busy summer season, when Coimbatore families escape the heat. The October to December rains bring mist and slippery roads. For clear views from the viewpoints, February and March are usually best.
Vehicle for your group size

Frequently asked questions
Can we see Kodaikanal in one day from Coimbatore?
It is possible but rushed: about 8 to 10 hours of the day go on the drive. In one day you would manage the lake, Coaker's Walk and the 12-Mile Road viewpoints. If that is all the time you have, we can arrange a one-day car hire through our car rental service.
Can we go inside the Guna Caves (Devil's Kitchen)?
No. The deep cave passages are closed for safety. You see them from viewing areas only.
Can we add Dolphin's Nose?
It needs a trek from Vattakanal and about half a day, so it does not fit in two days. Entry depends on the forest department on the day. Our 4-day Kodaikanal package has room for it.
What if it rains or the forest road closes?
The driver swaps the order, moves the lake or Bryant Park to the dry window, and skips a viewpoint only if the forest department closes it. Closed sights are not charged because tickets are bought on the day.
Who should pick a different package?
If you want a slower trip with more viewpoints, take our 4-day Kodaikanal trip. For a longer stay with Ooty too, see Ooty and Kodaikanal in 4 days. If you have an extra day, the Ooty and Kodaikanal 5-day circuit is less rushed. For a quieter tea-hill stay, try Meghamalai in 3 days. If you would rather combine two hill stations, ask about Ooty and Kodaikanal together, or see the Ooty and Coonoor 3-day package.
How do we pay, and what if we cancel?
A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.
