Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Coimbatore to Mysore

    Morning pickup and the drive north into Karnataka. Free evening in Mysore.

  2. Day 2: Mysore Palace and Chamundi Hills

    Mysore Palace in the morning, then up to the temple on Chamundi Hills. Second night in Mysore.

  3. Day 3: Mysore to Coorg via Dubare

    Drive west toward Coorg. Stop at the Dubare Elephant Camp on the Kaveri near Kushalnagar, then check in at Madikeri.

  4. Day 4: Abbey Falls and Madikeri

    Abbey Falls, Raja's Seat and a walk through a coffee estate. Night in Coorg.

  5. Day 5: Coorg at your pace

    A free day, or add a side trip to Bhagamandala and the Brahmagiri Hills Coorg shares with Kerala, on request; your written quote states whether it changes the price. Third night in Coorg.

  6. Day 6: Coorg to Chikmagalur

    Drive north through coffee country to Chikmagalur. Afternoon free. Night in Chikmagalur.

  7. Day 7: Mullayanagiri and Baba Budangiri

    Drive up to Mullayanagiri Peak in the morning, then Baba Budangiri. Second night in Chikmagalur.

  8. Day 8: Return to Coimbatore

    The drive back from Chikmagalur to Coimbatore is about 375 km, around 7 to 8.5 hours with stops. It is a long day; an extra night on the way can be added on request. We drop you at your pickup point.

How to reach / distance

Mysore is about 200 km from Coimbatore, around 4 to 5 hours with stops. Mysore to Madikeri is about 120 km, Madikeri to Chikmagalur about 150 km, and Chikmagalur back to Coimbatore is a long day of about 375 km. The Karnataka vehicle permit and entry tax are included in the price.

Places you will see

The Chamundi Hills in Mysore rise about 1,000 m above sea level, with the Chamundeshwari temple at the top and a granite Nandi halfway up, according to Karnataka Tourism's Chamundeshwari Temple page. Mysore Palace is listed first among the city's sights on the Mysuru district tourism page.

Coorg (Kodagu) has the Dubare elephant camp, Abbey Falls and Raja's Seat, all on the Kodagu district tourism page. At Abbey Falls, you watch from the viewing points and cannot enter the water (Karnataka Tourism: Abbey Falls). Abbey Falls is in Coorg, near Madikeri, not in Chikmagalur; Chikmagalur has its own waterfalls.

Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in Karnataka at 1,930 m, about 22 km from Chikmagalur town by road, with a small shrine at the summit, according to the Chikkamagaluru district page on Mullayanagiri.

Best time to go

October to March has clear views from Mullayanagiri and Raja's Seat. Coorg and Chikmagalur get heavy rain from June to September; the waterfalls are full but hill roads can be slow. Mysore is busiest during Dasara in September or October.

₹36,000 to ₹43,000 per person. The per-person rate falls as the group grows, because the vehicle cost is shared. A sedan suits a couple, an Innova or Innova Crysta a family, and a Tempo Traveller or Force Urbania a group of 10 or more. The vehicle is named in your quote.

Many Coorg trips allow one or two nights; this one gives Coorg three, leaving a free day for rain or a side trip.

Frequently asked questions

Can we climb the Chamundi Hills steps?

Yes. Karnataka Tourism counts 1,008 stone steps to the temple. Our driver drops you at the foot of the hill and waits at the top.

How long is the walk to Mullayanagiri peak?

Most visitors drive almost to the top and climb the last stretch on a stepped path. A full Mullayanagiri peak trek from Sarpadhari is a separate guided hike; ask us if you want it and we will check whether it is open.

How is this different from the Karnataka Tourism Coorg package?

Karnataka Tourism's Mysore and Coorg package page describes a 3 day circuit run by KSTDC. Ours starts at your door in Coimbatore, adds Chikmagalur, and runs in a private vehicle on your schedule.

Can I book Chikmagalur on its own?

Yes. If you only want the coffee hills, take our Chikmagalur weekend trip.

Who should pick a different package?

What about payment and cancellation?

A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.
