Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Up the ghat, Silver Cascade, Kodai Lake
Pickup in Coimbatore and the drive up the Palani hills ghat. Silver Cascade (also called Silver Falls) is beside the ghat road, so it is the first stop. After check-in, an evening walk around the lake.
Day 2: The town day
Bryant Park in the morning, Coaker's Walk for the valley views, and a boat on Kodai Lake. Everything is close together, an easy day for elders and children. Chettiar Park Kodaikanal or the Kurinji Andavar temple fit in too.
Day 3: The forest road
West out of town to the pine forest, Guna Cave and Pillar Rocks, which sit along the same road. The Forest Department's 12-Mile Road page lists all three on one ticketed stretch, open 9 AM to 4 PM. This is the classic pine forest stretch, and parking fills up by late morning, so we start early. Berijam Lake is further along the same forest road, if you get a permit (see the FAQ).
Day 4: Optional Dolphin's Nose, then down
If you want, a morning walk to the Dolphin Nose Kodaikanal viewpoint, a rock ledge over the valley on the Vattakanal side. Then the drive back down to Coimbatore, with drop-off at your pickup point.
How far is Kodaikanal and how to reach
The India Cine Hub page and the Dindigul district page both name Madurai as the nearest airport and Kodai Road as the nearest railway station; the India Cine Hub page gives about 120 km and about 80 km. From Coimbatore, the road trip runs via Palani, about 160 km and around 3.5 to 4.5 hours with stops. Once you are in town, most hotels are a few minutes' drive from the lake.
Places you will see
Kodaikanal hill station stands at about 7,200 feet in the upper Palani hills, according to the Dindigul district page. It also lists the Solar Observatory and its astronomy museum, open to the public only on fixed days.
Bryant Park is the botanical garden at the east end of the lake. Pillar Rocks is a set of three tall rock columns seen from a viewpoint; on misty days they vanish for minutes at a time. Coaker's Walk is a paved cliff-edge path with a telescope house. All three appear on the India Cine Hub Kodaikanal page.
Best time to go
April to June is the busy season, so book early. September to March is cooler and quieter, with misty mornings. For a sunset point in Kodaikanal, ask your driver on the day; we usually suggest the Green Valley side.
Vehicle for your group size
The vehicle is part of the package price. We match it to your group, and you can ask for a different one.

Frequently asked questions
When is the lake open for boating?
The road around Kodai Lake is open all day. Boating hours change by season, so we check them for your date. We plan boating for the Day 2 morning, when queues are shorter.
When are Bryant Park and Pillar Rocks open?
Bryant Park, Pillar Rocks and Coaker's Walk all open in the morning and close around dusk; we confirm Coaker's Walk timings and the others for your dates. The Pillar Rocks road gets busy by noon, which is why we go early on Day 3.
Can we go to Berijam?
Possibly. Berijam lake permission comes from the forest department office in Kodaikanal, a limited number of vehicles are allowed each day, and the Berijam forest is a day-only visit. Entry depends on the forest department on the day; if it is closed, we swap in another stop nearby. Each traveller has to queue at the counter for their own ticket, so we cannot buy it for you, and entry is not guaranteed.
Can we add Fairy Falls or other places to explore in Kodaikanal?
Yes. Fairy Falls Kodaikanal and Chettiar Park can be added on Day 2 or Day 4. Tell us when you ask for a quote.
Does this trip work for honeymoon couples?
Yes; ask for a better room and a slower Day 2. If you only need a Kodaikanal car rental, our car rental in Coimbatore comes with a driver who knows these roads.
What are the payment and cancellation terms?
A 30% advance confirms your trip, and the balance date is in your written quote. Cancel 15 days or more before the trip and we refund the full advance. From 14 to 3 days before, we refund half the advance. Within 2 days of the trip, the advance is not refunded.
Who should pick a different package?
Short of time? The Kodaikanal weekend tour covers the same main stops in 2 days. For a longer hill holiday, the 9 day Ooty, Wayanad, Munnar and Kodaikanal loop includes Kodaikanal.
